Dixie Workshop Inc. designs, manufactures and installs high end custom cabinetry. Unlike most “Cabinet Shops” Dixie Workshop makes virtually all of it’s cabinet components such as doors, moldings, drawer boxes, roll out trays, in house at Dixie Workshop Inc. here in Ocala, Florida. Our work has been featured in numerous national publications such as Southern Living Magazine and International Kitchens and Baths.

The range/cooktop hood was fashioned from re-purposed/recycled wood veneers which were sourced from a vendor which deals in old timbers taken from old buildings. We machined and constructed the face and the interspersed transition pieces from the salvaged lumber. The structural shell of the hood was made from 1/2 maple plywood and it will receive a troweled on plaster compound which will create a stone like texture.
The cabinets were constructed with knotty alder lumber and have a finish which was created by my son Justin Miller. There are 5 steps involved in the finish, the most critical of which is the brushed on application of a dark glaze. The glaze is virtually wiped off the brush to the point of the brush being nearly dry and then glancing strokes of the glazing brush create the unique aesthetic of this particular finish.
The island was also constructed of knotty Alder Lumber but a much darker contrasting finish was employed. The island was also built with a beaded inset face frame method whereas the perimeter cabinetry was an accessorized frameless construction method.
The custom plate rack was designed to accommodate 3 different sized plates which our client had. The diagonal corner cabinet has an appliance garage at its bottom section
