  • This arched wall bridge is atop a sink vanity which is carved from solid stone. The arched raised panel reflects the shape of the arched bottom and is further enhanced with acanthus corbels and dental molding on the sub crown molding.
  • A close up of the special molding application which distinguishes the Designs and Work of Dixie Workshop. The astragal molding band which separates the top section steps out around the fluting in the same manner as the Crown molding at the top!
  • This display space features acanthus corbels which frame the left and right side of the opening along with small capitals atop the fluting. The crown molding features a dental molding rabbeted into the sub crown molding.
  • In this photo you can see the detail of the angled flutes with furniture base @ the sink. What appears to be a drawer stack to the right of the sink is actually a Dishwasher that has had false panels applied to the front preserving the cabinet look
  • This kitchen is made with Knotty Alder. The gathering island was made with a large oval granite top. The base was made as a hexagon and has inset doors and a furniture base.
  • This amazing kitchen features a blend of painted and stained cabinetry. The custom range hood features a red base color with a dark Van Dyke Glaze. The maple cabinetry has a dark pecan stain with glaze.
  • This custom designed range hood features pull outs which flank both sides of the stove. Spices, cooking oil and perhaps the chef's secret ingredients can be stored inside!
  • The combining of various molding profiles and onlays can provide a distinctive unique look to custom cabinetry. The cherry material utilized for this job provides a deep rich color for the piece.
  • This frieze molding is made by combining astragal molding with a reed and ribbon molding used as a sub crown molding. 4" crown finishes off the very top of this elegant molding detail
  • The finishing process on cabinetry is an art unto itself. Here primed cabinets are coated w/ pigmented conversion varnish and then sprayed with glaze. The glaze enhances the profiles on the doors and the moldings to provide a furniture quality finish.
  • The butlers pantry is concealed by mounting cabinet doors to a 3'0" twin door and placing them between 2 pilasters with rope molding fluting. This creates the appearance of cabinetry rather than an interior door.
  • This upper cabinet is placed between 2 fluted columns and is held back 3/4" which makes the crown molding step out around the flutes for a striking effect. The left fluted panel is shown with an applied beadboard panel on the side.
  • This custom range hood features onlaid astragal molding and a mantle like shelf which is groved for plate display should the client so wish to display one. White conversion varnish finish w/ distressing, sand through, and a VanDyke Glaze finish.
  • This cornice/ Crown molding was made by combining several molding profiles and embellished with an Enkebol onlay. The cabinet was made from steamed cherry and is finished with a Van Dyke glaze with light distressing.
  • Upper section of the Cherry Bar Elevation. This was all made from rough Cherry Lumber Stock. The moldings, doors and wine rack were all made in house AT Dixie Workshop
  • Zoom of the lower portion of this Bar Cabinet Elevation. Wine cooler behind left door. Sink behind Right door. Venting for the Wine Cooler is done by special sectioning in the furniture base so as to not interfere with the furniture look
  • The trash pull out has been face with drawer fronts to maintain the balance to the left and right of the stove.
  • This custom pocket door was made to match the cabinetry in the kitchen. The Casings are a modified form of the kitchen door stile profile.
  • We manufacture this beadboard paneling @ Dixie Workshop. MDF panels are laminated with wood veneer and then milled to create the beading. Beading can be set any width, 3 1/2" on center is shown here. Shop made corbels and baseboard finish the job.
  • Patience is a quality that must be aquired by anyone who aspires to do fine woodworking. The detailing seen here takes painstaking time and there are no shortcuts. The pieces and the joints are either perfect or, well I think you hear me knocking!
  • This upper cabinet section is over a Bar Elevation. The top section of the crown molding extends back on a flat plane and actually serves as the railing on the landing of the stairway which leads to upstairs. The client told me," Mike, be clever!"

  • On top of the granite you can see a coverplate which snaps over the outlet which has been routed into the corner post on this island. Notice how the other exposed faces of the posts have been made to look like the cover plate. Routers are great!
  • Cabinet to the left is full inset drawers with beaded openings. The Bench Seat to the right was done with a full overlay frameless construction method and the furnture base was added. This made for a larger drawer in the bench seat.
  • I've been doing this for a long time and I am still amazed when I see the bundles of rough lumber and plywood being delivered and knowing that when it leaves Dixie Workshop it is going to be transformed into something that might look like this.
  • Again, another example of how looks can be deceiving. Successful design weds form and function. Mother nature and the Devine do it best, but the discerning human eye recognizes efforts which blends them as well

  • The top section of this furniture type kitchen pantry features an open space for display. Notice the low voltage halogen lights set into the top.
  • Fisher and Paykel dish drawers with cabinet panel fronts. Notice how we attatched the toe assembly to the bottom dishdrawer. When it is in the closed position you cannot tell that there is any hint of appliance in this island.
  • This is the bottom of the large cherry armoire/ panty cabinet that is shown in the furniture section. Here we placed Queen Anne type legs and fitted another ledger skirt between them. Double click on the picture and zoom in.
  • Refrigerator is shown with panelized front. The 2 end panels are 3" wide and faced with triple bead fluting. A wall bridge cabinet spans the top between the panels. The crown kit then wraps the top and steps out and around the panel flutes.
  • Applied molding is utilized on the radius corner which creates the "bump out" on this Master Bath Vanity. Notice the Furniture skirt follows the countour of the cabinet and is reflected in the shape of the granite top. Tulip Bun Feet are shown here.

  • Our Client provided the relief sculptured horse head artwork and we actually built this section of the Entertainment Center around it. The original artwork was glazed with the same glaze used in the Cabinetry to help blend it in.
  • Sectioning cabinets to provide differing functions not only makes clever utilization of space, but also makes the design more interesting. The cabinet to the left is a frameless full overlay while the one to the right is Faceframe / Inset.
  • This custom kitchen was designed, fabricated and installed from raw materials @ Dixie Workshop. Nearing the completion stage of installation the beauty of this Kitchen has begun to become apparent.
  • Notice the shelves are actually wood frames with glass set into them. This cabinet was made from a template of the alcove shape so as to fit into an irregularly shaped space. Notice the crown detail on the fluting!
  • The V-groove pattern was achived by milling individual pieces of V-groove stock at the shop. They were pre finished at the shop and then cut to length and installed on the jobsite.
  • The bottom section of the cooktop hood features slide out sections w/ adjustable shelves for spices/ cooking oil. Very handy to have spices readily available while cooking!
  • This custom angled Fireplace Mantle Beam was fabricated from soft maple boards. All the exposed edges were mitred together so as to make it appear to be hewn from one single piece of wood. Distressing and finishing was then done at the shop.
  • This cabinet which is different in design from the main portion of the kitchen with respect to both design and finish serves as an accent piece in the Kitchen. Notice the intricate molding applications both at the top and bottom.
  • The sub zero wine cabinet has been seamlessly integrated into this elevation. The round openings for wine bottle display and storage are above an area specifically designed to hold an unique wine bottle opener.
  • This small alcove has been made to serve several purposes. Desk, Bookcase and TV cabinet w/ pocket doors. Notice the beadboard which has been run behind and below the cabinets. It continues down the wall into the Kitchen
  • This is an example of special sectioning of cabinets. The cabinets to the left have been reduced in depth and then held off the wall. A TV in the room behind the cabinets is recessed through the wall behind the cabinets seen here.
  • This picture illustrates how the exterior sectioning of a cabinet can be done in such a fashion as to conceal the function of the cabinet.
  • Space under staircases is often wasted. This design takes wasted space and transforms it into a clever special display area for baskets which are collected by the client. Special designs are routine at Dixie Workshop Inc.
